Neurodiversity Affirming Therapy

Neurodiversity Affirming Therapy

I have a special interest in working with Neurodivergent adults, particularly those on the autism spectrum. I recognise that many neurodiverse, specially Autistic individuals face barriers to accessing tailored support. My approach is focused on helping individuals develop a deeper understanding of how their unique traits influence their experiences in forming and maintaining meaningful interpersonal relationships. I work collaboratively with clients to identify how the characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) may be impacting their day-to-day lives, and together, we explore strategies for navigating social interactions, communication, and other challenges they may face.

What Is Neurodiversity Affirming Therapy?

Neurodiversity Affirming Therapy is grounded in respect for neurodivergent experiences and identities. Rather than pathologizing differences, I would work collaboratively with clients to:

  • Understand and honour their unique ways of thinking, feeling, and interacting
  • Build on strengths and interests
  • Navigate challenges without internalized shame or pressure to mask
  • Create tools and strategies that fit you, not a “norm”

Neurodiversity Affirming Therapy is for:

  • Autistic adults (diagnosed or self-identified)
  • Individuals with ADHD, learning differences, or sensory processing differences
  • Late-identified neurodivergent individuals exploring their identity
  • Parents or partners of neurodivergent individuals seeking deeper understanding
  • Those navigating burnout, masking, or internalized ableism

Whether you are seeking therapy for anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life transitions, or simply want a space where you don’t have to explain your neurotype, we’re here for you.
