Personal Therapy for Trainees
A supportive space for future therapists, psychologists, and mental health professionals
If you’re currently in training, whether as a counsellor, psychotherapist, clinical psychologist, or another helping profession — you already know that this path asks a lot of you. Personal therapy is often a required part of professional development, but beyond the requirement, it’s also a valuable opportunity to deepen your self-awareness, process your experiences, and tend to your emotional wellbeing as you train to care for others.
I welcome trainees from all modalities and training backgrounds, and I bring a culturally sensitive, Integrative and relational approach to this work. I also understand the pressures of balancing academic demands, placement expectations, and personal development and how hard it can be to hold all of that at once.
As someone who understands the demands of therapeutic training, I offer a confidential and non-judgmental space where you can:
- Explore personal material that may arise through your training or placement work
- Experience therapy relationally which may deepen your understanding of the therapeutic process from the client’s perspective
- Space to explore boundaries, transference and emotional responses that come up in your client work
- Reflect on your developing professional identity and boundaries
- Make sense of your own life experiences in the context of becoming a therapist
- Have open dialogue around self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and vulnerability, which are common experiences during training, and nothing to be ashamed of
You’ll be offered a safe and supportive space to explore your journey of growth — and the inevitable growing pains that accompany it.
Let’s connect — I offer a free initial consultation to see if working together feels like a good fit.
